BE READY!

The first thirty-four verses of Matthew chapter twenty-four contain prophecies related to the destruction of the city of Jerusalem, and in particular the temple in Jerusalem. Jesus made it clear to His apostles that their generation would see those prophecies relating to the destruction of the temple fulfilled. (Matthew 24:34) These prophecies of Christ were fulfilled in 70 AD.
Beginning in verse thirty-six of Matthew chapter twenty-four the Lord gives us some information concerning His second coming and the end of the world. He says we ought to watch and be ready for the second coming of Christ because no one knows when that shall occur. (Matthew 24:42) After discussing His second coming Jesus goes on to give some parables which teach the importance of being prepared for the second coming of Christ. Those parables are contained in Matthew chapter twenty-five.
The Parable of the Talents, as it sometimes called, teaches us that we cannot be ready to meet the Lord when He returns unless we have wisely used the blessings He has given unto us. (Matthew 25:14-30) Our time, money, and abilities are all gifts from God that must be used in His service. If you are not wisely using these gifts in serving God then you are not ready for Christ to return. Be ready!
